What Have I Achieved Today?

Life is a product of many activities put together in other to have what you may define it to be. Some people are successful while others are failures. Some are extremely rich while others are beggarly poor. Are you going to say the Creator is partial  to have distributed it this way?

God gave each of us a complete day. In it you have durations broken down into bits. Several seconds makes minutes, minutes hours; certain hours makes a day, and many days added to form weeks, an addition of the weeks makes one month and a total of twelve months gives us a year.

As the clock ticks, so also does our life counts. What you do with your time may be intangible but it is meaningful. What you do today becomes a product for your future and a story to tell about your past. Activities sown into the present determines the outcome of our future.

The Creator gave His creatures the ability to take records of all their daily activities. He gave us memory to recall what you have done on daily basis. With this, you can evaluate how well or bad you have spent the day. It can be clearly seen that while God was busy with the work of the creation, at the end of each day, He usually took an inventory of all He did. This usually makes Him to see that all He did was good (Genesis 1:10). Not a day elapsed in the creation process that God did not evaluate what He had achieved so far throughout that day.

How you spend every seconds of your day would determine whether you would end up as a success or failure in life. Many people aspire greatness but they live their days without doing anything great. It is more than claiming to have a “good”, “great”, “awesome” or “splendid” day that makes one successful in life. It requires doing productive things that will help us become great.

In fact daily confessions for a bright future will linger if no good efforts are contributed on daily basis. Every day is God’s gift to us and how you use them determines what you get or become tomorrow. Our days are like the soil and the activities you do during them are seeds. No matter the kind of seed sown into the soil, it will germinate when it is been cared for on every other days.

Many of us are busy without doing anything. I wash the dishes, attended to the house chores, wash my clothes, iron my clothes, help my parents, go for lectures, go to my workplace and other things done are good activities. But do they really amount to any achievement towards your vision and purpose in life?

You can never achieve anything in a day when you do not set your mind to achieve something. It goes beyond writing a to-do list. To have this list is good, but does it captures what you want to become in life? A lot of people want to become great in life but their efforts on daily basis do not lead them to the greatness they aspire because they do unproductive things.

It is bad to wake every day without having a clear cut of what you want to achieve for that day. For instance, wishing to become an excellent student is not enough if all you do is to attend lectures, write test, go for practical classes, mark attendance, write examinations or take notes. It entails reading and studying your subjects in-depthly.

I remember when I was in the tertiary institution; I have a clear mind of the kind of grade I want to graduate with and what I want to be known as in my profession. I focus more on the ‘VIP’ courses and became passionate in knowing them coupled with burning the midnight candle. Through it all, it worked and I became what I wanted to be academically.

Life is more than wishes. If wishes were horses, beggars would have more of them. Wake up every day and define what you want to achieve personally or what you want to do personally to develop yourself with. Write them down so that you don’t forget it. Fulfill them according to their priorities. Going to work or school cannot make a person great unless you drill out the greatness in you through setting goals and achieving them.

An artist cannot create a great design if he only admires other people’s paintings without doing his own. Guide your activities along the path of your goals. Channel all your efforts towards the activities that would make you become great in life. However, greatness in life does not lead one to eternal success. You may own the fattest bank accounts, investments or properties but each of them cannot be used as an exchange of your soul in eternity. It is imperative to record success spiritually and eternally as you aim at the physical sides of life. The richest man on earth is the most wretched man in eternity if he fails to live for God. Are you contributing to your eternal success in life? Many people have a good physical appearance but a stunted spiritual being. They eat three square meals but fail to feed their inner man with the word of God. They become too busy to meditate in the scripture before they become so engrossed in their daily activities. A lot of us want to go to paradise or heaven but we fail to do what will take us there on daily basis. Finding time to spend quietly with God in prayer and His word is better than the day spent in running after other activities. “What have I achieved today” is a question you ought to ask yourselves on daily basis.  Have I achieved anything that will contribute to my personal and eternal success? This should be done during the peak and off peak hours of the day so that amends can be made to whichever one. Don’t waste time on futile activities. You may be busy doing nothing that is worth more in your life. Examine how you live each second of your minutes before you finish your day. No one owe you for the kind of life you live. Your failure to plan the resources (talents, opportunities, body, and soul), time and energy He has given you is not His failure. He has given every man the wisdom to number each of his days so that he may incline his heart to wisdom. (Psalms 90:12). When you live to achieve success on daily basis here and hereafter, you can then end up your life in greatness and eternal bliss.

What have you achieved so far?
