Man, ever since he lost his position and purpose before God has always found much problems to do things himself. He sought-after several means to find peace, happiness and a sense of direction in life but he failed severally.
The more he tried, the more he fails and suffers daring consequences in life.
There are no two ways to love and bliss in life and relationship: it’s either you find them in God or you get the opposite elsewhere.
Many people, especially singles have entered into relationship with the purpose of finding love, acceptance and happiness but in the long run, they met what they never bargained for.
The likes of premarital sex, unwanted pregnancy, abortion, unprepared motherhood, guilt and condemnation are what they got in search of love and acceptance. Are these what God desire for them?
It is normal to desire a relationship and have one but what’s more important is the purpose of the relationship and its effect on your life and destiny. Are you in a relationship that takes you farther from God or takes you closer to Him?
Here are the signs that you’re in a relationship that takes you away from God.
1. Sexual immoralities is entertained
Any relationship where sexual purity is not regarded, the opposite would be encouraged. And in such case, you’ll bear the brunt and face its consequence.
What are the things you often do together when no one is there with you? When the likes of kissing, petting, caressing and fondling each other’s body are what characterize your relationship, you’re getting closer to the devil’s paradise.
If yours is to engage in erotic conversations, masturbate or to send nude pictures on the premise of it’s ‘Not-too-bad’, you are nowhere God’s child.
You can’t lift up holy hands on Sundays and likewise use that same hands as an instrument of unrighteousness to sin on other weekdays.
You can deceive men but you can’t deceive God who sees and knows what to do in secret.
2. No godly discussion
What’s the purpose of a conversation when all you spend time increases you more to ungodliness and sin? Test that conversation you have in your relationship.
There are many people who tolerate gossip, baseless talks and filthy conversations in their relationship. None of such act would take you closer to God but secure a seat for you in the devil’s paradise.
Now is the time to make amends and quit any relationship that takes you farther from God. I don’t care if it’s your boyfriend or girlfriend, whether Christian or secular dating. The moment where you do things that God detest, you’re an enemy of God.
3. Loss of peace and zeal in spiritual matters
Carry out a litmus test on that relationship, do you still find time to do the things that would take you closer to God? Do you still have your peace of mind intact with God? God is the essence of life. Once you miss your connection or relationship with God, the devil will take advantage of you.
Both singles and married must be cautious of their relationship. Some single married and they lost their relationship with God for marrying the wrong person or due to indolence. This is why as singles, be careful of who you’d marry and what you do in your relationship. Any ‘ship’ that takes you away from God will bring sorrow, grief and worries into your life.
Sin has no other names, whether you call it ‘norm’, ‘right’, ‘choice’ or ‘self-opinion’. You can’t serve the devil in sin and youthful lust and still claim that God is your father.
You cannot be in such relationship and marry in God’s will. You can’t violate God’s law and incur His favor. No, except you repent!
I know God is merciful but His mercies are sufficient to grant you enough room to repent and make amends but not to continue in sin. It’s not God’s will for you to remain a sinner or end in hell.
However, it might seem difficult to quit because emotion is involved. But won’t it be better to just let go of that relationship than to dine with the devil when there’s no opportunity for restitution?
Wouldn’t it be better to disengage from that relationship before it puts your life in a state of regret and expose you to terrible consequences?
Any relationship that doesn’t take you closer to God will take you farther from Him. Do not forget that the whole duty of man is to fear God and keep His commandments (Eccl. 12:13-14).
Is that relationship helping you to revere God or violate His laws? Receive strength to break free from such relationship in Jesus name.
Take the bull by the horn, count the cost rather than hold onto to the relationship that will put your life in a mess and take you away from God in eternity. Now is the time, repent!
