However, it’s believed that the best place to find love or its truest form is in relationships, whether friendship or in marriage. The desire for love has led many people to move from one relationship to another in search for it. Many double date or do all sorts to keep their relationship aglow while neglecting what it takes to experience love the way it ought to be. Love has been called different names. Some said it’s wicked, it doesn’t cost anything or that it doesn’t exist. But the real truth about love is that who you’re in love with would to a large extent the kind of experience you’d have about love. Lest I forget, your own understanding too about love would also determine what you’d experience. 1. Don’t date Before you’d condemn the ‘Don’t date’ opinion, I’ll clearly prove my points. I know the world system is used to dating and the likes in search for love. But many had it wrong. That most people are doing a thing or the same thing doesn’t make it right. Take a personal study among your friends that are in a dating relationship and examine the number of those who experienced love the way it ought to be without having a bad experience or an issue in it. Also examine the number of those who never had regret in their dating relationship. Desiring love, acceptance or escaping loneliness cannot be achieved by having one or more boyfriends or girlfriend. I can boldly tell you that doing this is a wrong approach to finding true love or experience love. Activities that characterize most dating relationship are no other things than kissing, petting, caressing, premarital sex, meeting at dark corners and the likes. Would you call these love? Nay! Love doesn’t put you in a mess or makes your life worse. Most dating relationship I have known or seen, even while in school are those where one becomes a victim and the other has nothing to lose. The goal of dating is to check if a partner would be suitable for marriage which doesn’t exclude sexual relationship. Don’t naively go into a relationship while seeking for love and you’ll end up in lust. Love is never wicked or crazy but lust. 2. Date God Does it sound crazy? It’s possible to fall in love with God through His son. As much as you can do it physically with someone you see, you can also do it with God through mutual fellowship. All you have to do is to develop a mutual relationship with His son. As much as you’d spend time talking with your boyfriend or girlfriend, spend time talking with Him in prayers. You need not start praying for hours, fifteen or thirty minutes will do so that you can have a relationship with Him. In dating, you’ll ensure to please your partner by doing what he or she likes so that love can be deepened. With God, all you need do to make Him love you is to turn away from sin. Habits like telling lies, stealing, disobedience to His laws or immoralities are things that would keep Him far from you. When you’re in love, there are some crazy things you do for love such as smiling at the picture of who you love or frequently looking at it. You can also do same to God by developing a liking for His word. Reflect on it day and night while you trust His Spirit to help you observe all that you study. You can never experience true love if you do not know God or love Him. Anyone that promises you true love without having an intimate relationship with God will only express true lust with you. Dating every Tom, Dick and Harry that comes your way cannot help you know true love. It doesn’t cost much to fall in love with Jesus if you can keep His commands. Only those who love Him can express true love. And when you know Him, you can differentiate between lust and love. But importantly, you must give Him your heart rather than give that boyfriend or girlfriend that would rip it apart. You can’t know true love by giving God a fraction of your heart while your boyfriend or girlfriend takes the largest. God is a jealous God. Do you want true love? Fall in love with Jesus!
